The
design was created by Mike Dasher of Dasher Golf
Design. He has created over 40 courses with the
world-renowned Arthur Hills Design Team. Including
North Shore, he has completed four new courses
since 1997: Highlands Reserve Golf Club just south
of Orlando: Sienna Plantation Golf Club in
Houston, Texas: and Bentwater Golf Club in his
hometown of Atlanta, Georgia.
The golf course at North Shore Golf Club winds
through native wetlands, majestic oak trees and
utilizes the natural topography to create a truly
remarkable golf experience.
This course
offers two different and distinct nines: The
Modern Nine and The Classic Nine. The modern nine
has a links style feel to it with marsh and
wetlands dotted across the topography. The Classic
nine is more traditional Florida golf, winding
through 100 year old oak trees. The differing
styles provide a unique and pleasurable golf
experience.
The playing
conditions at North Shore Golf Club are as good as
one can expect and are indicative of what you
would expect to find at an upscale course charging
much higher green fees. The fairways are
relatively wide and forgiving with rolling terrain.
The greens are receptive and will reward good
shots with a birdie or two.
Although the par
5s are quite long, the course is not
overly long and sets up rather nice for all skill
levels. The undulating greens are quite fast and
the ball will roll well. For the most part
it is fairly easy to see the best landing area
from the tee with a couple of exceptions.
Your tee shot at hole #1 which is a a
short par 4 should be played to the right, but be
very careful of the tree guarding the right side
of the fairway. Better players may opt to play for
the large bunker fronting the green and longer
hitters may even attempt to drive the green.
From the third tee, it is a little difficult to
see the landing area and even impossible from the
back tees. Remember to play your tee shot a little
to the left and you will be in good position to
make par.
You will enjoy your round at North Shore
Golf Club so much that we expect that you will
want to play it again and again.
