| Northdale
remains one of the premier Tampa golf courses because
of its affordable play, its use of water on 11 of 18
holes, bunkers, rolling undulations and contoured
greens that really challenge players.
In 1977,
Northdale Golf & Tennis Club was founded by the
Criterion Corporation. Criterion enlisted Ron Garl
previous "Golf Designer of the Year" to
design one of the most beautiful Tampa golf courses
that would "sit softly on the land". Land
that originally was a dairy farm was transformed by
the design of Ron Garl employing his vision "To
design and build memorable courses that challenge
players to excel and that everyone can enjoy".
Northdale Golf & Tennis Club, a hidden gem
among Tampa golf courses, was sold in 1980 to Dave
Creighton a National Hockey League star that owned
it until 2000, when Crown Golf Properties purchased
the facility.
During the summer of 2002 the Tampa
golf course underwent it first renovation since
being built. Golf Sculptors of Florida was the
contractor for a project that included the complete
rebuilding of all greens to USGA specifications,
reshaping of every bunker and the resurfacing of
over four (4) miles of cart path.
The improvements
made to what is now known as one of the finest Tampa
golf courses are certain to delight the large cadre
of loyal golfing patrons who have made Northdale
their home course for the last 25 years.
